Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between classes and teams?

Classes: Focus is on individual skill and learning the rules of the game, in a fun and safe environment. We offer both co-ed classes (fundamentals and intermediate level) and a Girls' Academy (beginners only). Classes meet once a week. Teams: Intermediate/Advanced level competitive program. Training for players who are looking to learning team tactics and play and to perform at a higher level. Athletes have participated in 2-3 seasons of a beginner fundamentals program or recreation league programs. Teams train twice a week with games every Sunday. We can help you decide. If you would like to schedule an evaluation for your child, please send us a message.

What's the difference between indoor and outdoor sessions?

Indoor Classes: Run 8 weeks uninterrupted, except for holidays. Outdoor Classes: Run 8 weeks, except for holidays. In the event of inclement weather we will offer up to 1 rain out classes tacked on at the end of the season.

What does my child need to bring to class?

All young athletes will receive a Sonic Soccer shirt on their first day of attendance. Players should come prepared with athletic wear, sneakers or soccer specific shoes (turfs or indoors), a water bottle, and of course be ready to have a good time. Shin guards are not necessary for fundamentals or intermediate classes, but are required for team players.

What is your trial policy?

We do not offer trial classes. However you do have up to 15 days from your child's first class to withdraw.

Do I receive a refund if I withdraw my child?

If for any reason your child does not want to continue with class, you have 15 days from your first class to withdraw and receive a prorated refund, less 5% processing fee. We recommend trying two classes; with young children it may take a couple classes to adjust to something new.

Can I be refunded for the classes my child does not attend?

There will be no refunds made for illness or other incidental absences. However you are allowed up to two makeup classes per session.

Can I schedule a make-up if my child misses a class?

Yes you can! To request a makeup with an appropriate age group on a different day or at a different location, please contact us at least 48 hours in advance by emailing attendance @ kidsorbit.com or call our office 718-768-4426 during business hours.

What happens when there is inclement weather?

Please check the announcement section of our home page for timely weather updates. In the event we cancel a class, we will email a message to our primary contact at least 60 minutes before the start of class. We will offer up to two make up classes scheduled for the end of the season, if necessary.
